2017 BMW 6 Series: Redesign Exterior and Interior
The three sets of new chassis which will mark the fourth generation of production will be used for building the three different variants of BMW 6 Series. 6 Series Coupe will be equipped with G15, 6 Series Cabriolet will be seeing G14 and 6 Series Gran Coupe will be having G16. Gran Coupe will be a bit longer than the previous 6 Series Gran Coupe as well as the other two new 6 Series. The new two Series, Coupe and Cabriolet will actually face trimming in size and will be smaller than its predecessor. This, though, helps to save weight and will affect a reduction which will amount close to 200 kilo grams.
Starting from this 2017 BMW 6 Series, all future 6 Series models will be based on a new architecture of built which has been given the name of CLAR, which is an abbreviated form of Cluster Architecture. This new architecture will be providing more flexibility to the body of the car by making use of what they call ‘clusters’. These ‘clusters’ also make room for extensive and wide adjustments and can adapt very easily.
This new CLAR built also makes use of carbon fibre and high strength steel along with magnesium and titanium alloys, all of which are light in weight yet robust and strong to the skin. This effectively lowers weight and also the position of the car’s centre of gravity which improves handling and cornering.
