2015 Hyundai Tucson Fuel Cell is the first Fuel cell vehicle (FCV) a Tuscon Crossover and is claimed to be the first such car to be produced on a large scale. It is based on clean fuel technology and utilizes hydrogen as its primary fuel. After combustion, only water vapor is produced due to the burning of hydrogen which is pollution free compared to regular CO2 and SO2 emitting vehicles.

2015 Tucson Fuel Cell has an extremely aerodynamic and streamlined design so as to reduce air resistance. It is about 807lbs heavier than its concept model; however this does not negatively affect driving dynamics but instead it acts as a ballast to dampen inertial forces thus counterbalancing jerks while driving on uneven surfaces. This has been made possible by shifting all heavy weight materials below passenger cabin.

2015 Tucson Fuel Cell has been provided with a 2.4L, combustion engine producing 134HP of power and 221lbft torque. Hydrogen fuel cell has maximum power output of 100kW. Combustion of hydrogen in fuel cells in presence of air generates electricity and water. This electricity is used to charge a Li-polymer battery having a maximum power output 24kW.

2015 Hyundai Tucson Fuel Cell has a single speed power transmission system. It can accelerate from 0 – 62nph in just 12.5 seconds and can attain a maximum speed of 100mph. With a tank full of hydrogen it can drive up to a maximum of 265miles. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) measured economy is about 49/51mpg for city and highway roads respectively. It has a combined EPA economy of 50mpg.

2015 Tucson Fuel Cell features state of the art safety & security features including – Anti lock braking mechanism (ABS), Traction control(TCS), standard Electronic stability control(ESC), Vehicle stability management (VSM) etc. Other features include Brake assist mechanism (BA); Hill assist controls (HAC) along with advanced dual front air bags and similar side impact air bags.
